Honestly, I like defense better, especially in hard mode. No point in having 600 health if you're taking 150+ per hit.

go defense, fortitude will make monsters break agro easier from you, and the extra armor never hurts.

I haven't done or seen the numbers, but I don't think there will be too much difference. I just tend to throw on fortitude mods because I have a lot of them lying around wasting space in storage. Defense is quite possibly a better choice though.

I usually just use Fortitude...but that's just 'cause I have a thing for Green weapons.
Go defence if you can get the mods.

IMO the best spread for +HP and +AL is 30/30 on sword and shield, and sentinels or dreadnoughts on armor.

Lets be realistic... without a prot your pretty stuffed anyway, so the 30hp, or the defence isnt gonna make that much diff. I just use 30hp coz its better in pvp

defense is generally better anywhere, and the less damage you take, the less damage your monk has to work to prevent/heal. and i'm pretty sure the general consensus was that +armor is pretty much better.

Lets say monsters are hitting for 200 damage, and you have prot spirit on you, then the defence mod is doing jack all, and atleast the health mod is giving you a slight buffer against life steal etc.
In pvp, which all i do is RA due to time, most of the time you get hit on by sins, mesmers, necros etc which are all degen/armor ignoring damage and so defence doesnt really help that much which is what I meant by that. However saying that, if I was doing a gvg alot or HA, id probably swap to the defence mods.

not that many enemies in pve even hit that hard, and most hits are significantly lower with more armor, and adding hp lets more slip through PS, so either way, i wouldn't bother with health.

On the contrary, if you have PS on you, and monsters are hitting the limit, 30 extra health means an extra 3 damage per hit.
If they are hitting under the limit, then that extra +7 defense will amount to close to the same as well.
No matter how you look at it, after around 10 hits (which is almost the minimum for a Warrior in PvE), you'll already have made up for the lost 30 maximum health.

I remember a person made an intricate study on water magic snares and how effective they are, maybe we could get him to study this!

This doesn't require intricate study. The only thing that matters is how much damage is reduced by that 5 armor in a typical fight (which only requires dumping numbers into a formula). In zones dominated by armor affected damage dealers, that 5 armor is going to save more than 30 of your health. In zones dominated by armor ignoring damage dealers, the armor won't help at all. It's a simple comparison. Unless of course you want to go around each and every zone and calculate how much of each damage type there are, factoring in how good at aggro control the Warrior is and what prots are flying around (hint: that's difficult to the point it's a gigantic waste of time).

perfect was established a long time ago; 15^50, 20/20 ap, +30hp. With HM introduced, its your choice armor or hp.

ROFLMAO
perfect is subjective, but if there was one sole set of mods to use on a weapon, that sure as hell wouldn't be it.

Perfect can mean different things to different people. Some people would say it means anything thats max, some would say it's whats good (as you infer), and some (when talking in a trading context) would say 20/20, 15^50, +30. 'Perfect' is just a leftover term from when people traded fully modded weapons.
